The building was completely redecorated inside, re-carpeted, re-furnished, and a new dropped ceiling put in, together with a new bar. The actual bar top is a single solid piece of a South American oak.
The picture shows the 22 feet long, well stocked bar and of course some of our members in their regular evening discussions, deciding on whether it's Arsenal, West Ham, or Tottenham, that are the better team, or simply putting all the problems of the world to right ! A picture of the new bar
The Social Club is not just somewhere to go and enjoy a drink with friends. People may not be aware that it raises a lot of money for local charities, including B.A.S.H., the Day Centre, Buntingford Swimming Club, which is totally sponsored by parents, and for children with learning difficulties (in conjunction with Layston School).

There are teams involved in the local darts and pool league, and Bingo is held every Monday ..
Once a year an annual dinner is given to some selected senior citizen members and a Christmas party is held for the members' children.
In 1996 the Club had its 75th anniversary, with a week of celebrations including a visit from Eric Bristow.

New members to the Club have to be proposed by existing members. However, if you are new to the area and do not know anyone , you are still welcome to drop in for a chat and have a look around.
You may find there is someone who can sign you in as a guest for the evening
